Facial blotting paper made from gold leaf pounding paper
We sell facial blotting paper manufactured by means of the gold leaf pounding technique.
Paper fibers become very fine when pounded, and obtain a surprisingly high oil absorption property.

Paper-pounding technique
Our facial blotting paper is manufactured using the technique for pounding gold leaf. Paper fibers become very fine when pounded, and obtain a surprisingly high oil absorption property.
Carefully Selected Paper Materials
- High-quality natural Japanese paper
Traditional Japanese paper can absorb more oil than Western pulp paper, since its fibers are longer and more densely intertwined. The absorbing property is further improved by pounding.
We use different types of materials such as oriental paperbush, hemp and Diplomorpha, and provide a selection of products from which you can select the best for your skin type.
- Diplomorpha paper
This is traditional Japanese paper of superb quality, with long, strong fibers. We use Diplomorpha paper for pounding gold leaf, since the paper is very resistant to pounding. After the paper is pounded dozens of millions of times, it is reused as blotting paper called FURUYA paper. Since it is a byproduct of gold leaf, only gold leaf manufacturers can produce this paper. - Oriental paperbush paper
This paper is made of very soft yet strong fibers. Though one tends to think of traditional Japanese paper as hard, this paper is very soft and ideal for sensitive skin. - Hemp paper
Hemp is said to be the coolest natural textile for clothing. Its outstanding properties also make it the most popular material for blotting paper.
