Established in 1899, KATANI SANGYO has a history of over 110 years. We started business as a metal leaf manufacturer, and have created a new field in the metal leaf industry in response to society’s changing needs. Our innovations are based on our world-class metal leaf technology and our own development.

In 1959, we succeeded in manufacturing vapor-deposited metal foil on plastic film, and since then, we have been providing decoration technology for a wide range of products including home appliances, automobiles, building materials, printing materials, cosmetic containers, fabrics and handicrafts, both in Japan and abroad.

1899		Jikichiro Katani started manufacturing metal leaf.
1950		Incorporated as Katani Metal Leaf & Powder Industry
1959		Started business with the plastics sales division of Toyo Rayon (present-day Toray Industries, Inc.)
1960		Established Kyoto Sales Office (present-day Kyoto Branch)
1961		Merged with Showa Metal Leaf & Powder Industry and established Osaka Branch 　Established Kusatsu Plant in Shiga Prefecture for lamination and coloring
1963		Established Tokyo Sales Office (present-day Tokyo Branch)
1964		Established Nagoya Office (present-day Nagoya Branch)
1968		Changed the company name to KATANI SANGYO Co., Ltd.
1970		Established Gunma Office (present-day Gunma Branch)
1978		Incorporated Kusatsu Plant and established Katani Laminate Industry Co., Ltd.
1979		Constructed a joint plant equipped with a noise and pollution prevention system in the metal leaf 　processing complex in Ishikawa
1987		Established KANIX INDUSTRIES (SINGAPORE) PTE.LTD.
1991		Established KANIX INDUSTRIES (MALAYSIA) SDN.BHD.
1999		Opened antenna shop “Kanazawa KATANI” in Kanazawa, Ishikawa
2004		Established KATANI SANGYO (Hong Kong)
2007		Established KATANI SANGYO (Shenzhen) in Guangdong, China
2008		Established an office on the west coast of the United States
2009		Established Office in Shanghai
2010		Established KATANI Europe S. A. S in Paris, France
